About this Project
The project
The rehabilitation of the Council-owned Gordon Street, Port Macquarie, included the upgrade of existing pavements, kerbs, gutters, and footpaths and the replacement of stormwater infrastructure, water mains and service lines.
The Project involved the upgrade of an existing stormwater and water supply system and the creation of a new discharge point into Kooloonbung Creek with a gross pollutant trap (GPT).
Our role in the project
Niche’s multidisciplinary team provided an Aboriginal Objects Due Diligence assessment; Flora and Fauna Assessment; and a Review of Environmental Factors.
Improving drainage, flood management and safety for the community
As the existing infrastructure was underneath Gordon Street, construction used traffic control and temporary lane closures to undertake the works replacing the stormwater drainage system and water mains. Gordon Street was rehabilitated after completing these works, including the footpaths, kerbs and gutters.
The goal of the Project was to improve drainage and flood management within the Project Area, ultimately improving the safety of the community, however, in the rehabilitation of Gordon Street, the line markings and pedestrian crossings were upgraded, ultimately improving vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow within the Project Area.
