Over the last four years, Niche’s project team has delivered over 150 projects in support of Australia’s renewable energy transition. The scale of this impact is significant, with these projects having the potential to power over five million homes annually.
Niche has a proven track record of partnering with developers of renewable projects and utilities developers on significant nation-building infrastructure projects, navigating the complexities of large projects and balancing critical environmental, biodiversity and heritage outcomes.
“Australia’s transition to renewable energy is critical but like all large-scale development, must be done in a way that values and respects the environment and cultural heritage. Our team is proud to be contributing to this process, delivering many thousands of hours of strategic advice and on-ground delivery across ecology, heritage and natural capital services to achieve our vision of creating a sustainable future,” said Lawrence Smith, Niche’s Executive Director – Commercial.
Large scale clean energy generation projects continue to be key to Australia’s emissions reduction targets. The federal government’s aim of 82% of energy generated from renewable resources by end of 2030 will require an extra 33,000 GWh from renewable energy sources every year, or effectively 6,000 MW of new projects.
Current reports suggest that these projects are making a difference. According to the Clean Energy Council & Green Energy Markets renewable energy projects will have reduced emissions by 40% compared with non-renewable generation.
