Simon leads the Niche ecology team drawing on his extensive NRM career spanning 15 years working across private, government and NGO sectors. Simon has worked extensively as a consultant in NSW conducting ecological impact assessment, management planning, ecological monitoring, offsetting and project management of medium to large projects. Simon has been successful in overseeing development approvals and offset strategies for a number of complex large scale projects in the mining and renewables sectors.

Simon’s previous roles in government positions have equipped him with a thorough knowledge of State and Federal planning frameworks and their application. He has a strong knowledge of threatened species assessment and offsetting and is an accredited BAM and BioBanking assessor. Simon has assisted in developing specialised offsetting tools and apps that Niche use to capture data and identify offset strategies for both clients and landholders who seeking to establish Stewardship sites or trade biodiversity credits.

Simon has wide ranging fieldwork and project coordination skills. He has completed extensive terrestrial flora and fauna surveys throughout the Sydney Basin and remote areas of New South Wales.

Simon combines his knowledge and experience with conservation principles to assist his clients in achieving robust and innovative solutions for their projects.
