
Senior Ecology Consultant (Botanist) – NSW flexible location
The opportunity!
We are seeking a motivated Senior Ecology Consultant to join our team, ideally someone with 7 years or more experience in the consulting industry (or equivalent) managing a diverse project portfolio. This position is ordinarily based in Parramatta or Wollongong however with active projects over most of NSW, work from home based from a regional location (e.g. Wagga/Riverina, Canberra/ACT, Dubbo/Central NSW) is also encouraged for the right applicant.
Niche is willing to tailor this role to the right applicant such that it is a balanced position incorporating botany, project management, reporting and staff management, or has a more technical focus primarily around fieldwork (including remote fieldwork).
Qualifications and experience:
- A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany or another relevant discipline.
- Practical experience of 7+ years undertaking field-based surveys, data analysis and reporting, preferably in a consulting capacity.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation and planning policies.
Skills and knowledge you’ll bring to our projects:
- Extensive experience undertaking ecological survey and plant identification in the vegetation communities of NSW.
- An existing BAM accreditation is an advantage, alternatively, the desire and capacity to become BAM accredited based on your existing experience.
- Experience in preparing ecological reports such as impact assessments BDAR’s, FFAs and monitoring programs.
- Offsetting skills such as experience with TFD calculations, offset strategies, BSSAR’s, monitoring reports and management plans.
