Built Heritage Consultant – Brisbane QLD

The opportunity!

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person with qualifications and experience in built heritage management and conservation to join our QLD heritage team. The successful candidate will ideally have 4-6 years industry experience including the preparation of heritage studies, conservation management plans, heritage impact statements, archival recording and heritage interpretation projects.

Requirements to be successful:
  • Tertiary qualifications in architecture, cultural heritage management, built environment and architectural conservation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Queensland cultural heritage legislation, particularly the Queensland Heritage Act 1992 and associated policy and guidelines, as well as the Planning Act 2016 and other relevant planning laws relating to heritage management in Queensland.
  • Sound knowledge of the Building Code of Australian and the National Construction Code.
  • Solid experience with CAD (REVIT, ARCHICAD, Vector works or similar).
  • Previous experience in preparing technical reports and documents for heritage studies, conservation management plans, heritage impact statements, archival recording and heritage interpretation projects.  
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team of professionals.
  • Ability to work outdoors and a willingness to travel to field locations throughout QLD.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Good interpersonal, excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Driver’s licence.

The following will be looked upon favourably:

  • Current registration as an architect in QLD.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in heritage conservation.
  • Complementary qualifications and/or demonstrable experience in historical research in QLD.
