Meet the team: Brodie Hartfiel-Lees, Experienced Heritage Consultant QLD

Heritage Consultant Brodie Hartfiel-Lees joined Niche’s heritage team in Queensland in August 2022.
Brodie is a highly experienced professional with over 10 years of experience, primarily in Aboriginal cultural heritage management. Brodie has led the delivery of heritage management for multiple large-scale infrastructure projects in QLD, including EIS-level projects. She also has substantial experience with projects across SE QLD, including working with multiple Aboriginal Parties and other stakeholders on cultural heritage project requirements.
To Brodie a good project outcome means “Great cultural heritage outcomes for both the Aboriginal Party and the Proponent. I believe that by engaging really well, most issues can be worked through with great results.”
Get to know Brodie
Brodie is from sunny Brisbane but moved around a lot as a kid, including to Indonesia for a few years, then to a cattle farm north of Bundaberg and then out west to Roma where she started working in cultural heritage in the oil and gas industry. Brodie has a three-and-a-half-year-old and a ten-month-old who, in Brodie’s own words, “Just like me to be their human climbing frame!”
Brodie’s children must have gotten their adventurous side from their mother; when asked what activities she likes doing outside of work, Brodie answered “Bushwalking, swimming and picnics in the park with my children and husband.” She also explained that she has climbed two of the seven summits – definitely a family of adventurous spirits!
Life at Niche
Brodie describes Niche as welcoming, fun and exciting.
Brodie usually works out of Niche’s Queensland head office in Brisbane; however, due to the nature of her work, she has experienced a range of unique and beautiful sites and places. Recently this included Cape Flattery, “an absolutely fantastic place to work from!”
Brodie has appreciated Niche’s friendly and collaborative team culture, along with the opportunities Niche provides for mentorship and career development. When asked how Niche has helped her to increase her skills or to develop as a professional, Brodie explains…
“Niche has offered me excellent exposure to a range of different types of projects which have given me such a good grounding in project management and client relationships.”
She continues, “Since starting a Niche, the whole QLD heritage team has been wonderful, but a particular thanks to Jill Reid, Discipline Manager – Heritage QLD, who has been incredibly supportive and helpful!”
At Niche, Brodie has felt her skills and expertise continuously evolve. We know that this is only the beginning for Brodie and that the high level of care that Niche offers will enable her to continue to develop and grow professionally.
