Meet the team: Rosanna Virzi, Heritage Consultant QLD
Heritage consultant Rosanna Virzi is one of Niche’s latest recruits joining the Queensland heritage team in July 2022.
Rose has five years of experience with heritage and allied environmental projects around Australia. This has included working with the Australian Department of the Environment, supporting the Australian Heritage Council, and bioregional assessments. Rose has also worked on State government projects that have seen circular economy initiatives thrive throughout Queensland. She is skilled in historical research, oral history collection, desktop surveys, excavations, artefact analysis and conservation and has written interpretive heritage signs for local development companies and city councils.
To Rose, a good project outcome is about finding the right balance. She explains, “It’s equilibrium that brings the best possible outcomes. Our projects capture the data we need to provide the best advice for the environment, heritage and the future of our communities.“
Get to know Rose:

Rose is a traveller at heart, but she holds a piece of Brisbane close to her wherever she goes. “I move around a lot for work, but I often find myself thinking back on the sun, the warmth and the jacarandas wherever I land. For now, the lure of the home has pulled me in, and I’m happy to stick around”. Rose describes herself as passionate and excitable. When asked to tell us a little bit about herself, Rose explained…
“I love to learn. I’ve studied archaeology, history, museums, languages, art and environmental management and have now wandered off into music, generative art and blockchain… My spirit is usually somewhere with the trees or out in the ocean, so you’ll find me there when I’m not working.”
Life at Niche:
Based in the Queensland head office, Rose splits her time between the office, her home and her work in the field. Recently, she has completed three lots of fieldwork and is heading out for another three in the coming weeks. “I’ve seen so much of this country in such a short time. From the heritage heart of the city centre to the state forests out west and the red desert sunrises in north-western Queensland, it’s a gorgeous country, and I am thrilled to be a part of the projects that will ensure it’s just as beautiful for the next generation.”
Rose has expressed the warm welcome she felt from the team…
“It’s been a busy few months preparing many varieties of archaeological reports required by our clients. I’m thankful to have Jill, Xavier, Kev and Jane on my team, all of whom have been patient and giving with their incredible breadth of knowledge on all aspects of heritage in Queensland.”
Although new to Niche, Rose has voiced her enthusiasm for the future as she looks forward to expanding her expertise and utilising Niche’s employee benefits to help her do so… “I’m still new to the role but am looking forward to the professional mentoring offered by Niche to improve the skills of its newer team members.“
Rose has brought to Niche invaluable knowledge, experience, and a bubbly and enthusiastic personality. We are so excited to see how she will continue to grow and deliver excellence within her new role!
