Our heritage team’s broad range of experience and technical knowledge enables us to provide our clients with a complete package of services to manage the heritage aspects of any project – including specialist advice on legislative requirements, archaeological excavations, desktop and site assessments, conservation management strategies, consultation and liaison with Traditional Owners, community stakeholders and regulators.
Niche welcomes built heritage experts in NSW and QLD
During the past 12 months, we have strengthened our built heritage management capabilities by welcoming two senior specialists to the Niche team.

Dr Tanya Park BA, BArch, Grad Dip Ed, PhD
Experienced Built Heritage Consultant – NSW

Tanya is recognised globally as an expert in wooden architecture having lived, worked and presented across Europe, USA and Japan. Tanya brings skills in adaptive reuse and historical analysis of heritage buildings. She represents Australia on the ICOMOS International Wood Committee, and the UNESCO advisory group. Tanya’s PhD examined the fabric analysis and material authenticity of historic wooden structures in Japan.

Dr Tanya Park, Built Heritage Specialist – NSW
Tanya’s interests extend to the effect of climate change on heritage conservation, and she is the representative for the Wood Committee on the ICOMOS Climate Change Working Group. Tanya is also co-author of the Australia Chapter of Heritage at Risk document, UNESCO, 2021, a UNESCO document incorporating all countries for ‘ICOMOS World Reports on Monuments and Sites in Danger – World Report 2016-2020.’
Tanya’s flagship projects have included conservation works pertaining to the preservation of the Clock Tower at Sydney Central Railway Station as well as several projects involved with mining exploration and associated consents.

Practice Leader & Heritage Architect – QLD
Stewart is Niche’s built heritage practice lead in Queensland and is currently engaged as the heritage architect providing design advice for two major redevelopment projects in Brisbane – Queens Wharf and Herston Quarter.

Stewart is a registered architect and is passionate about the conservation, adaptation, interpretation and promotion of heritage places, and the design of new buildings in heritage contexts.

Stewart’s extensive experience comes from senior roles with the Queensland Government’s Heritage Branch, National Trust of Australia (Queensland) where he was Executive Director, and most recently in private consulting as the heritage architect for two major projects in Brisbane, Queens Wharf and Herston Quarter.
