“I am very happy to announce that we’ve made the decision to become a carbon neutral organisation in line with Climate Active, the Australian federal government’s standard for carbon neutrality,” said Niche director Dr Rhidian Harrington.
“We are doing this to minimise the impacts of our operations on the environment and also to be prepared for a future where there is likely to be a carbon restrained economy.”
Niche’s greenhouse gas (GHG) assessment will comply with international standards and Australian regulations including ISO 14064-1 and Australian Energy Audits Standard AS/NZ 3598:2014).
By measuring our organisation’s carbon footprint annually, we will be able to understand the sources of our carbon emissions which will then allow us to explore ways to reduce them. For any emissions that cannot be excluded, carbon credits will be purchased that comply with strict global standards such as the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Verified=Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Gold Standard (GS-VER).
Niche’s decision to become carbon neutral reflects our core value of Care: We care for each other, our business partners, working safely and sustaining the environment.
