Meet our team in northern NSW
At Niche, we are committed to delivering excellence to our clients. We do this by drawing on our consultants’ local experience and knowledge to provide superior specialist environmental and heritage services that have positive impacts on our client’ projects and the communities in which they operate.
Now, due to growing demand from clients in northern NSW – and across the border into southern QLD – we’re growing our team of experienced, local ecology and heritage consultants in the region.
Locally-based ecology and heritage specialists
Senior ecologist Dr Radika Michniewicz is a Port Macquarie local with Australia-wide experience. She has managed field studies and large, complex projects for infrastructure, mining, utility and local government clients in NSW, and has a sound understanding of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
For the past few years, Radika and fellow Port Macquarie ecologist Jodie Danvers have been the key ecologists for RMS on the Pacific Highway Upgrades, undertaking monitoring of threatened species and mitigation measures.
“This project has included monitoring of a range of threatened species, from Koalas to the less-known and stunning Brush-tailed Phascogale. The highlight for me has been the results that provide evidence that the mitigation measures that have been put in place are working for the client and the fauna, for example, evidence of Koalas and the Spotted-tailed Quoll using drainage culverts that have been designed to combine drainage requirements with fauna passage requirements”, said Radika.
Dr Morgan Disspain recently joined the team as Niche’s senior heritage consultant for northern NSW, based in Coffs Harbour. Morgan has 10 years of professional experience in cultural heritage management and archaeological research and has managed large infrastructure and mining projects throughout Australia.
Morgan has published extensively and has received numerous awards for her research, which focuses on the analysis of archaeological fish remains. Morgan wrote about some of the fascinating outcomes of her research in a recent article in The Conversation.
Support of 40-strong consulting team
Lawrence Smith, regional manager NSW, said “I’m very proud that our dedicated local northern NSW team, led by Morgan and Radika, are so focused on bringing to life projects that sustainably benefit local communities. Our northern NSW team is supported by a wider multidisciplinary consulting team of more than 40 ecologists, botanists, zoologists, archaeologists and environmental engineers based all along the east coast from Cairns, Brisbane and the Gold Coast to Newcastle, Central Coast NSW, Sydney and the Illawarra.”
