The latest addition to Niche’s expanding multidisciplinary consulting team in NSW is botanist Dr Cairo Forrest, who joins the Sydney head office.
Cairo is an experienced ecological consultant and research scientist with particular expertise in terrestrial vegetation, threatened species survey and long term biodiversity monitoring programs.
Cairo’s PhD focused on five threatened Acacia species of Far Western NSW and included recommending and testing appropriate conservation strategies. He has a thorough understanding of BioBanking and is a member of the Ecological Society of NSW.
Cairo has previously held roles in genomic science at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, and ecology and genetics research at the University of Wollongong. His ecological consulting project experience includes vegetation monitoring on mined and rehabilitated lands, survey and assessment of seagrass habitats, and vegetation surveys and threatened flora and fauna surveys at Port Kembla.
“Cairo’s appointment adds strength to Niche’s ecology team and supports our commitment to delivering excellence in environmental services for our clients across NSW,” said Bruce Blunden, NSW regional manager.
