Significant changes to the way projects are assessed and offset
In 2016, the NSW Government introduced the Biodiversity Conservation Act (BC Act) and Local Land Services Amendment Act (LLSA Act). This new legislation repeals the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995, the Nature Conservation Trust Act 2001 and parts of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 and the Native Vegetation Act 2003.
This has resulted in new regulations, a Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM), offsetting rules, sensitive biodiversity mapping, a credit pricing spreadsheet and other guidance documents.
The new regulations commence on 25 August 2017 and will result in significant changes to the way projects are assessed and offset in NSW.

We are also working at the strategic planning level with a number of clients who are currently evaluating various future investment options and who need to understand the cost implications of the application of the new legislation to their businesses.
