Dr Kevin Rains is a historical archaeologist and heritage manager and joins Niche after an extensive period of service with Gold Coast City Council, including working as Council’s senior heritage planner, team leader and most recently the coordinator of cultural heritage development.
His expertise extends to researching, publishing on, and managing early mining and agricultural landscapes, cemeteries and the built environment of the late 19th century to post-war period. He is also a leading Australian researcher into Overseas Chinese settlement in colonial Queensland.
“We are certainly happy to have Kevin on board,” commented Cameron Harvey, regional manager for Niche in Queensland. “His appointment to the Brisbane office will help grow Niche’s historical heritage capability for our clients throughout Queensland.”
