Niche marine ecologist Dr David Cummings will present a seminar at this year’s Coastal Conference, entitled Fauna and flora of the ‘terra nullius zone’: Considerations for ecological assessments of estuarine habitats.
“There are a number of species that can utilise a combination of both terrestrial and marine habitats along the shorelines of estuaries – what we have loosely termed as the ‘terra nullius’ zone. These species may be missed where specialist terrestrial and marine ecological studies do not overlap,” explains David.
David’s presentation will focus on introducing and identifying those species of the ‘terra nullius’ zone, which can be easily missed, however still require much consideration and care when managing coastal environments in the future.
Niche is proud to sponsor the 26th annual Coastal Conference, 8 to 10 November at Port Stephens, NSW. The event focusses on best practice in coastal management and brings together more than 200 delegates working within the fields of coastal and estuary management, research, education, service provision and policy.
